Four Jacobs students have developed practical location solutions for Bremen-based logistics firm Egerland as part of the company’s “Strategic Challenge Competition”. Today, 27 Bremen-based associations, companies and institutions from the public and private sector in cooperation with the Senator of Finance have founded a new alliance for the socially responsible procurement of computer hardware. They were joined by guests from business, politics and science at the event preceding the annual founding celebration of the OAV. The findings do not only confirm a previous pilot study undertaken by the Fraunhofer Institute ITEM in 2010, but expand on the knowledge in two important aspects. Participants get the opportunity to explore different fields of studies and to experience living in the colleges on campus. Jan Eichhorn will be offering a transdisciplinary course on ‘Social and political participation in Bremen’. This time, a total of 1,337 young people from 109 nations will live and learn on campus – 14 students have enrolled in theFoundation Year, an orientation and prep course for undergraduate study, 758 are bachelor students and 565 are taking graduate studies. As an official promoter of the Science Year 2013 “The Demographic Opportunity”, Bremen’s ‘Haus der Wissenschaft’ hosts a series of lectures titled “From 10 to 10 – A day for ‘The Demographic Opportunity’”.
